Introduction Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
Of all the features that set smartphones apart, screen size is as close to a decider as they get. Counter to the trend of the last decade that saw cell phones become as small as technology allowed, the emergence of touchscreen and the resolution race have brought about a major shift towards the larger form factor.
The 5.2" Sony Xperia Z3, 5.5" LG G3, and the 5.7" Samsung Galaxy Note 4 have all made it clear that screen real estate is in high demand. Even Apple has to play along now - the 5.5" iPhone 6 Plus, which looked less than certain until its very premiere, is now the platform's major weapon against Android flagships.
The iPhone is actually 6 should have been the star of the show, has a way that has been relegated to the role of mini-in terms of Android. A giant leap for 4.7 "iPhone (up from 4") is a small step in an industry that long has crossed 5 "sign.
However, size is an asset and liabilities, making the flagship compact redefined an increasingly valuable commodity. Sony is among the first to realize this and the second generation of compact Xperia series Z they will look to consolidate their leadership.
This industry is no stranger to more simply screen size, with people such as Samsung, HTC and LG downsized version of the flagship offering of all their past and present. Unfortunately, most of these are also equipped with each decline in the specification, which is a big no-no in our books. As you know, we've been big believe capable compact smartphone.

Main disadvantages Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
- Non user-replaceable battery
- Lacks the metal frame of the Xperia Z3
With the release of its previous Xperia Z1 Compact, Sony was able to make the first proper compact flagship that didn't sacrifice much compared to its full-sized namesake. Despite seemingly skipping a generation (i.e. no Xperia Z2 Compact), the two Compact members of Sony's Xperia family are not profoundly different from one another as they come just eight months apart.
Sony's quick release cycle should be no news by now, but the improvements to the Z3 Compact are still significant. Even though it does not exercise its flagship Z3, metal frame design of double glass panel that stand out have a unique feel of all to itself. Screen diagonal have raised 4.6 inches of 4.3, but Sony is capable of actually making the device thinner and lighter than before-a very impressive accomplishment, especially considering they were able to increase the battery capacity to 2, 600mAh too.
At first, we were very disappointed to not see 1080 p screen in compact Z3 spec sheet, but Sony more than makes up for it with sharp colors, brighter screen, and some much better viewing angle than its predecessor. The addition of another welcome including 2160p video recording capability and water resistance rating.
The Xperia Z3 Compact is not only a pleasure to behold but also has a markedly premium in-hand feel. Up next, we'll be taking a closer look at the design and handling, and what makes the Xperia Z3 Compact worthy of flagship status.
Robust retail package Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact comes with some healthy extras in its retail package. Besides a standard USB adapter comes a robust 1.5A charger, which means you'll be able to juice up your Z3 Compact that much faster compared to a standard 1A unit.
More importantly, in some markets the smartphone is also bundled with Sony MDR-NC31E Digital noise canceling headset, which integrates with the built-in noise cancellation capability Z3 series new devices. It works pretty well (you check out our own review of the headset), and headset only can take advantage of the Z3 noise canceling abilities-third party units will not be able to. Keep in mind that the presence of a headset in this package relies on the tight market so you might need to purchase separately.
Design and handling Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
Sony has increased the Z3 compact design of its predecessor, the Xperia Z1 compact. Compact generation of booking is no longer simply a miniature copy of his partner fullsize, but Sony's Omnibalance the remake design into something uniquely its own. So much so, you might even prefer you to Xperia Z3.
Meanwhile, the shortage of metal frame Xperia Z3, the compact Does sport the ex from the front and the rear glass panel. Although we would love to see some metal in the Compact as well as Z3, an elevated glass panel-unlike the Z3-give a premium compact Z3 feel without the added weight that would carry a heavier frame.
Other benefits that held the Z3 compact top Z1 Compact is that the actual glass rear panel, as in the future, who do not tend to get scratched as the plastic rear panel on the Z1 compact.
Glass edge in hand, Z3 friendly rounded became comfortable gripped and small size make the easy one hand operation. Despite its thickness is greater than the Z3, it really helps when holding the device as the larger size makes it easier to handle.
Speaking of, the glass panels have a tendency to be very slippery both in the hand and on smooth flat surfaces like wood or plastic. This, combined with its small size also makes it somewhat easy to drop, so care should be taken when handling the Xperia Z3 Compact.
Controls Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
The Xperia Z3 Compact features a control layout that's identical to the rest of the Xperia Z3 series. Up front, you'll find the 2.2MP front-facing shooter above the display, next to the earpiece, a small status LED, and some sensors.
The capacitive control buttons are built into the display itself, so the only thing you'll find under the display is the front speaker.
Both sides crowded phone slot and control. On the left side set the dock to connect the Z3 compact cradle or car kit charging, flanked by killing the Port on either side. MicroUSB port and microSD card slots are under the flap of their own, while nano-SIM card slot under the folds of his own.
The plastic cap is there to ensure water resistance and dust IP68-certified for up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes-so you better stay closed if you plan to expose the Z3 compact for the elements. The right side of the House Sony characteristics round power/lock button, next to a small volume rocker and a special camera shutter button.
Above you will find exposed 3.5 mm audio jack from a variety of waterproof along a secondary microphone, while under lean eyelet and the main microphone. Around back is 20.7 MP camera lens along with an LED flash. The back panel is not removable, so you will not have access to 2, 600mAh battery.
One final note on control-Sony is planning to release a complete PS4 connectivity exclusively for the Xperia series Z3 recently come November. This means that you will be able to connect the Xperia Z3 Compact with the dualshock controller 4 with accessory mount is provided, and the flow of full games directly from the system's PS4 PS4 on the same wireless network.
4.6-inch IPS panel with ultra-slim bezels
The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact has an IPS LCD just like its predecessor. That's where the similarities end, however, as Sony has not only bumped up the screen diagonal to 4.6 inches, but also squeezed it into the same footprint as the Z1 Compact. What's more, they've improved on it by making the colors more vibrant and brighter, while greatly reducing the contrast degradation when looked at from the sides.
The secret behind this improvement lies in the Live color LED that Sony has put into TRILUMINOS display technology found in Xperia mobile phone before. Living color LEDS combine red and green phosphor with blue LEDS to produce a brighter and more uniform light without oversaturating the image.
The Sony Xperia S3 Compact posted great scores in our display test. It provided some great contrast for its size :
